Kuwait – 7 – 11 (KUNA) – The Royal Military Academy Sandhurst will hold a ceremony to honor all its Kuwaiti alumni who have attended the academy since 1952 until today, under the patronage and presence of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, Sheikh Khaled Al-Jarrah Al-Sabah, late this November.
The Royal Military Academy Sandhurst is holding this ceremony in cooperation with Spink, a company that has been manufacturing British royal medals since the era of Queen Victoria and was founded in 1666, with the proceeds from the sale of the medals going to the academy.
Nidal Al-Masoud Al-Fuhaid, the agent for Spink in Kuwait, told the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that this ceremony aims to build bridges of communication between the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst and its alumni, and to strengthen humanitarian and military relations with Britain in general, and the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in particular.
Al-Fuhaid emphasized that the generous patronage of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, Sheikh Khaled Al-Jarrah Al-Sabah, for this charity event confirms loyalty and gratitude to the previous generation of Kuwaiti military pioneers, as well as care and attention for the current generation of officers, noting that the ceremony is the first of its kind in the Gulf and the Arab world, “and we are honored to achieve this milestone for the State of Kuwait.”
He added that the ceremony, which will be held late this month, will be under the patronage and presence of Sheikh Khaled Al-Jarrah Al-Sabah, the British Ambassador to Kuwait Matthew James Lodge, the Commandant of the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst Major General Paul Nanson, and senior officers from Kuwait and Britain, in addition to the honored military personnel who are graduates of the academy.
The Royal Military Academy Sandhurst is considered one of the most prestigious and oldest military colleges in Europe, from which many kings, princes, and leaders have graduated, in addition to many senior Kuwaiti officers, most notably the late Sheikh Mubarak Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the first Chief of General Staff of the Kuwaiti Army (from 1963 to 1980).
Among them are also the late former Kuwaiti Minister of Defense Sheikh Ali Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah, the former Minister of Interior Sheikh Jaber Al-Khaled Al-Sabah, and Ambassador Sheikh Thamer Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, in addition to a large number of military leaders who are still in service, led by the Commander of the Land Forces, Major General Sheikh Saleh Al-Sabah.
